Thoughts Ignore the "why haven't I posted in so long" theme.
Two significant reads in the last day. 1. Brian McLaren's article for leadership today look here.
The thought here expressed in his second "river" of thought is that the most important hermeneutic in todays world is community. That goes so well with my love for Wendell Berry, and with my concern about my own church, where ministry is given priority over community. I don't know yet, but I am wondering about my ecclesiology. I certainly believe that church does not exist to simply provide community - but what can we say when it is lacking?
2. That wiley marxist Terry Eagleton writes powerfully about the failures of contemporary critical theory look here. His contention is that theory's reticence to discuss truth and morality needs to be challenged. This merits further exploration. I know he is a marxist - but frankly this is not the first time a marxist can be an ally.
Enjoy
